The colors from the sunset were so bright and vibrant! We don't get sunsets like this everyday (though I wish we would!), but when we do they are so pretty! So I guess it is the end of summer. I can't wait to see the changing leaves and head out to a pumpkin patch! Fall is definitely my favorite time of the year :) |
It's hard to believe it, but summer is almost over! The neighbors' sunflowers have finally bloomed and are now slowly drooping over the fence. It's actually sad, because now that we can enjoy them, the temperatures are dropping and they won't last much longer. But aren't they gorgeous?! Especially with the sunset in the background! It seemed like a good moment to snap a couple quick pictures, and I'm happy with how they turned out!

This past month has been without a doubt busy and eventful. But things are getting back to normal and Corey's up on his feet once again. I couldn't be more thankful to see him recovering this quickly, and I know the puppies feel the same! The warm, end of summer weather gave us a chance to enjoy the backyard with the dogs. They loved when Corey would throw the tennis ball, and when we would watch them play in the pools. And they just love getting their pictures taken! Things are getting back to normal, and we're excited to see what new adventures are in store!
It's always raining in Illinois. Correction; it's always storming in Illinois. So when today's latest down poor swept through my camera came out to play! I love the black and white image of rain drops on the edge of the table, it feels very timeless. Water drops are so beautiful and so difficult to capture! I thought the flooded drive way would provide some good action shots but I think I needed a more violent storm for that. And more rain drops bouncing off the back patio....
A few weeks ago the city council decided that it was time to remove all of the ash trees from our neighborhood. It's devastating because we had a a very large, old white ash tree right in front of the house. It kept the house shaded and cool in during our hot and humid afternoons, and provided some privacy. Well it is gone now and only the stump remains. Here's to a lost friend! And here's to the quickly approaching end of summer and end of summer flowers!
After having a busy, productive morning, a little green tea seemed like the perfect afternoon pick-me-up! Leave it to Yogi Green Tea to add some inspiration to my day.
If there's one thing that I have learned from living in Illinois, it's that the storms are frequent and ferocious! And that the power is probably going out at some point... When the storms move through, the wind and lightening is pretty intense, and the clouds take on some strange forms. There's always one or two towns with uprooted trees and property damage. Just another reason why I miss Michigan!
Nothing says summer like fresh from the market veggies! On the menu this time, we have fresh asparagus, mushrooms, bell peppers and corn! Perfect for capturing a smokey, charcoal grill taste and complementing our hamburgers. Everything turned out delicious and was a great ending to a hot and sunny summer day. Tin baking pans were the key to keeping all the veggies together while on the grill. A little olive oil and some key spices enhanced the flavor of this mixture! And once the day was finally over, Jacque couldn't wait to crash for the night...
Wednesday night Corey and one of his friends decided to hold an impromptu photo shoot for their cars, and I was the tag along. It was a great chance to try out my polarizing filter with the late afternoon sun and dark clouds overhead. I'm pretty happy with the results and all in all I think there were some great shots captured! Happy viewing!! For additional photos, check out Gallery 4. This shot of the BWM turned out pretty awesome with the natural back-lighting I had to work with, and it almost has an HDR look and feel about it. I was also able to finally catch some images of Corey out with his camera, and a quick self portrait to add to the collection.
While running my usual day-off errands, I decided to swing into Target to entertain my shopping addiction-- and look at what I found! Definitely worth the $7 I spent to bring this little guy home :)
It's a warm, sunny morning in Chicago, and after a long night of working, and another long night ahead of me, I needed a good cup of coffee to get going! My new project as of now is to master the circular polarizing lens filter I purchased, and it's proving to be a little tricky. The filter is great for scenic shots and still life, but it can't seem to keep up with the dogs while they're running around. I have some work to do.
